LiveVEvil – A History

LiveVEvil was a club event – formed in May 2000 by a group of DJs and VJs eager to bring something new to the clubbing experience and mix cutting edge custom visuals with cutting edge music.

The collective of Dj’s were Morphy, Simon D, Velocet, Geco and Paul Reset while the VJs were El Buano, VJD, Justine and Noplex – later to be joined by Rosko. MC duties were handled by the one and only Gulux.

The music policy was drum n bass and our plan was to try and bring more interesting guests to Glasgow – steering mainly away from the more obvious a lister choices. This saw many a Scottish debut – including Photek, Pendulum and Black Sun Empire.

Guests over the years included Doc Scott, Shy FX, Rob F, Total Science, Tech Itch, Matrix, Loxy, Optical, Fierce, Dom & Roland, Klute, Simon Bassline Smith, Skynet, Teebee, Logistics, D Bridge, Breakage and John B.

Our first event took place at the 13th Note (now called Barfly) in May 2000 and the guest was Future Cut from Renegade Hardware. The event was broadcast live online via selekta.com and over the years we tried to webcast as many events as possible – although eventually it just became too problematic. We took up residency at the Glasgow School of Art in June 2000 and excluding a few months here and there, it remained our residency up until our final event in December 2005. We eventually drew the night to a close as we felt it had ran it’s natural course and it was time to move on.

So I’ve just set up this page to showcase the flyers from all the events over the years (over 60 events including random basement parties and boat parties on Loch Lomond) and also to host some of the recordings from over the years. The recordings will be added to as we go along, as Morphy is still trying to find some of the DATs.
